MamaP Makes It Easy For You To Make A Difference

Everyone knows plastic is not good for you or the environment. But did you ever stop to wonder how much plastic YOU are responsible for in the world? According to National Geographic, we each produce about 4 pounds of plastic every DAY! That’s a TON of plastic. This just means plastic is completely integral to our existence, but surely there are ways that we can inch towards to cut back on plastic. Being intentional about our plastic use and being thoughtful as to how we can slowly eliminate some plastic from our lives is an easy way to start to make a difference.
We know:
- Plastic Is bad for the environment
- Plastic is also bad for our body, many of the chemicals in plastic end up in our bloodstream.
- We’re all responsible for creating more plastic waste every day
But plastic is everywhere, it’s overwhelming just to think about how big its role is in our daily lives (4 pounds)... the good news is, every effort, no matter how small, will make a difference. And for more good news, MamaP is here to help!
The goal of MamaP is to help cut back on plastic in your everyday life to help care for Pachamama, or Mother Earth in Incan Mythology, by creating products that are responsibly sourced, compostable, recyclable, and overall earth-friendly.
Suz had a passion to create a purpose-driven brand with sustainably sourced products and an education-driven brand platform to create a strong community while also supporting important causes.
Our purpose is to leave the world a better place than how we found it.
This mission first came to life in 2018 through the launch of our bamboo toothbrushes. What better place to start than to help tackle plastic waste? Bamboo toothbrushes were the perfect start to helping people find ways to cut back on plastic. Did you know every toothbrush you have ever used in your entire life is still around? By switching to a bamboo toothbrush, you can start to make a difference. Isn’t that easy?

But why Bamboo toothbrushes? MamaP felt that this was an easy enough change to make in your everyday life to start to diminish plastic use. And what’s so great about bamboo? Bamboo is a regenerative material, and the nylon bristles are 100% recyclable. This means the bamboo toothbrush is totally compostable. Just like that you can decrease your plastic touchpoint by one. And don’t worry, your teeth will be just as clean.
But MamaP is not going to stop at just helping you cut out toothbrushes. MamaP goes further. Not only do we want to cut back on your plastic use, we also feel it is important to help our communities in meaningful ways. Since giving back to the community is an important part of being a global citizen, MamaP helps you give back too. Each toothbrush color represents a cause that we will give 5% of your purchase to. And a little bit more about our give-back approach. At MamaP, we use the term “intersectional environmentalism” to describe the core of our give-back commitment. It refers to an inclusive version of environmentalism that advocates for both the protection of the people and the planet, recognizing that environmental injustices also cause social injustices, especially for marginalized communities. The causes we’ve selected support both a healthy planet and equitable communities. It took a year of researching causes, which included asking everyone, anyone, “What matters to you?” This is how we came to pick the six causes we help you support.
The six causes we stand with currently are:
Blue - Ocean Conservation
Because the ocean makes up over 70% of our planet’s surface and so much plastic is ending up here. If we don’t care for it, we are ignoring a huge part of our environment.

Because they’re the pollinators of our world. We need bees to help pollinate our crops, including cotton. Bees are currently dying out at alarming rates.

But wait there’s more, MamaP is a woman and minority-owned business and this too plays a big role in who we are, and what we do. Whenever possible we look to our community of women and minorities to support them in any way we can. We integrate women owned businesses anywhere we can along our supply-chain in order to stand by women and stand by our belief of making a positive impact on the planet and its people.
